The Red Devils Poised to Sign Germany Striker Lea Schüller from Bayern Munich

The Women's Super League club are on the verge of sealing the deal for prolific Germany striker Lea Schüller in a permanent move away from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.

A Marquee Signing for United

The forward, with six months left on her contract, is known as a prolific goalscorer for both club and country. Having scored more than 100 goals for Bayern and scored 54 times in 82 caps for Germany. Her arrival will be seen as a marquee coup for the WSL side.

Departure from Bayern was expected since she appeared to be fighting back tears while applauding the German club’s fans following a victory over Bayer Leverkusen recently.

It was reported in December that the German women's top flight was losing one of its top forwards. According to reports, all the paperwork for the transfer have now been completed.

Reliable Goal Threat to Strengthen United's Attack

The experienced striker's signing should represent a major uplift to the team's attacking options. Schüller has been highly consistent in front of goal in Germany’s top flight.

• Over seven consecutive seasons, up to and including the last term, she reached at least a double-figures tally of league goals.
• She claimed the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.

Securing the German international coincides with a period when United appear to be gathering positive momentum.

Their recent performances feature qualifying for the European knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a win in the Conti Cup quarter-finals.

1. The signing of Swedish defender Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
2. The contract extension for Japanese playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, who has become popular figure since arriving in 2023.
