Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was natural for doubts to be asked about his future after another heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in 12 matches, representing the team's poorest run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got significant support from above,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to turn it around and secure a win of course but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He added, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “In the normal exchanges I perceive the trust. However I've not talked to them since this game yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Problems and Player Reaction

The manager highlighted recurring shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” Jones said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't have to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a spell of this nature with results like these.”

He stated, “But we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we’re always going to battle.”

“We will attempt to get this team back to where it needs to be, prove again what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“But right now, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
