Intense precipitation over the last seven days have intensified the extremely difficult living conditions of the vast number of displaced residents in the Gaza Strip, as reported by aid groups.
A representative described the weather overnight as "awful", with precipitation so heavy that as much as 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the ground.
"Last night was exceptionally horrendous for the residents. The downpours were so strong... And the gusts were so powerful," said the representative.
Officials express extreme anxiety that young ones living in makeshift shelters in soaked clothing will succumb to hypothermia and other sicknesses.
The health ministry have confirmed that one baby has succumbed from hypothermia and no fewer than 11 other people have lost their lives in building collapses triggered by the storms.
Other reports suggest a higher number of casualties. Spokespeople reported that numerous residential buildings had collapsed completely and scores had been partly destroyed.
Agencies have escalated shipments of tents, bedding and clothes since the truce commenced, but they stress there is remains not enough aid entering.
"Agencies are striving constantly to deliver that relief and to allocate it, but the magnitude of the necessities is so immense that we are faced with a great number of families and minors who are truly struggling nightly," warned one representative.
The subsequent part of the ceasefire encompasses plans for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the withdrawal of personnel, and other conditions.
Humanitarian organizations have highlighted the imperative for "greater and continuous aid to respond to pressing and long-term needs."
