Pat Bamford Joins Sheffield United Despite Leading Abusive Chants About Coach Wilder

Patrick Bamford is now a member of Sheffield United only half a year following instigating insulting taunts directed at their manager, Chris Wilder.

The 32-year-old striker, without a club since leaving Leeds, has agreed to a deal with the second-tier club in difficulty until January. Bamford's seven-year spell with Leeds concluded amicably this past summer.

One of Bamford’s final notable acts as a Leeds player involved leading offensive songs about Chris Wilder amid the club’s success festivities in April. Now, the one-cap England player will be playing for Wilder as Sheffield United's boss seeks to lift his beloved club away from the drop zone.

Past History Involving the Striker and Wilder

Both men had a past before Leeds moved up to the Premier League last season while Sheffield United were defeated in the promotion decider to Sunderland. Reconciliation and Moving Forward

All seems to have been put behind them with United, the Championship’s least productive attack, in desperate need of improvement in attack while Bamford looking to revive his playing days.

The song about Wilder gained traction this spring. An apologetic Bamford and the Leeds manager, Farke, called the Sheffield United manager the following day.

Wilder said at the time: “Had a conversation with Patrick yesterday and I have no issue whatsoever with that. I’m not sure regarding the words used from a fellow professional! However I valued and respected him calling me.

“We spent a short while and similarly I spoke to Daniel too and we had a longer discussion together and he's a great person, a top guy. Back in my playing days we would dish it out and take it and that’s part and parcel of the game at every level, including a Sunday morning. I've got no problem at all. I'm fine with the situation and I said that to Patrick.”
