The latest action-packed title that players dived into was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for celebrating chaos and insanity with similar enthusiasm, all while telling engaging, ideologically themed tales. It’s no surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two creators whose projects have exemplified all of those elements.
Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game series, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' structure by introducing a fresh location and ensemble in every instalment.
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as showrunners on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are working together for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this popular property.”
Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new comprehensive agreement with the creator.
“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And along the way, my FX family always encourages me with their steady confidence and assistance.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone program. Every instalment is a take of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To develop a large-scale action show that can evolve from year to year, while always examining the nature of humanity through this intricate and unpredictable viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m eager to work with Rob and present our shared bold, ambitious style to the audience.”
A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
