Dive Into this Reimagined Classic Adventure: This Free Trial for Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Arrives Shortly.

Enthusiasts anticipating the arrival of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined won't have to wait too much longer. A free-to-play trial experience is set to become available on the seventh of January, offering a sizable glimpse into the game's initial chapters. Notably, any progress earned within this demo will be able to be transferred directly into the full game upon its subsequent debut.

More Than a Simple Re-release: A Complete Overhaul

This title constitutes a ground-up reinterpretation of the iconic 2000 JRPG, first known as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a distinct departure from recent Dragon Quest remakes, like the previously launched HD-2D versions, this version embraces a unique 3D art style. Environments have been crafted to resemble intricate miniature worlds, with characters sporting a whimsical stylized look.

"Taking into account the previous port, the main quest was still exceptionally lengthy. So we reached a decision that we wanted to streamline the story, [and] craft an experience for contemporary players."

Key Gameplay Changes and Modernizations

The development team have added several enhancements to streamline the classic experience. Among these are:

  • Streamlined Overworld Encounters: Inspired by modern role-playing games, weaker monsters are now defeated instantly on the exploration screen eliminating the need for initiating a full turn-based battle screen.
  • Adjustable Battle Speed: Players can accelerate battle sequences to rapidly power through less challenging encounters.
  • New Vocation Mechanics: One completely new job class has been added for this remake. Furthermore, characters gain the option to take on a secondary job, significantly expanding strategic depth.

These refinements seek to address a key the 2000 title's frequent points of feedback: its considerable scope. The original storyline could easily require more than 100 hours to finish. This reimagined version was expressly structured to refine pacing and reduce any filler.
